The Onset of the Holiday Rush

I know the juggling season is upon us since it is November, which I can barely believe. Last weekend, I met disappointment when I entered a local craft store and saw that Thanksgiving had been all but erased. Feeling disheartened, I turned around and left the store, deciding then and there not to purchase any new holiday décor this season. So far, so good!

Thoughtful Gifting and Shared Experiences

Meanwhile, my gift list for family and friends continues to simmer. Experiences are my favorite gifts to give—whether it’s attending a hockey game, or going to the movies, live theatre, a walking food tour, fishing, or for an adventure in a new town. Building on their interests, whether old or new, by gifting music lessons, craft and hobby supplies, or room décor, brings smiles to their faces. As for looking at their wish lists, I resort to them only if necessary!

Thanksgiving Traditions and Gratitude

Thanksgiving remains my favorite day to spend with family and friends. Our shared traditions include watching the parade and football, participating in 5 and 10Ks, playing games, and debating the best recipe for mashed potatoes. One of the highlights of the day is when we gather around the table, and each person shares something for which they’re thankful: no repeats allowed. I already know mine.

I want to acknowledge and honor all the cooks and bakers who plan and prepare the scrumptious feast. If you don’t help with the fixing, make sure to do the dishes and clean the kitchen.
