A guaranteed approach to reducing conflicts, honoring your teens developmental tasks, and solving problems together is Collaborating. Tweens yearn to have a say in their lives.
This approach also increases their cognitive functioning and decision-making skills.
The Five Steps to Collaborating Are:
1. Agree that X is a problem and to solve it together.
2. Listen with respect to all possible solutions.
3. Agree upon solutions(s) and define roles.
4. Build consensus and win-win.
5. Follow-through and maintenance checks.
